June 3, 2025

On Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Laos Festival 2025 was held at Yoyogi Park. TUFS students majoring in Lao language were invited by the Embassy of Lao P.D.R. in Japan to support the event by introducing the charm of Lao culture.

Undergraduate students participated in coffee tastings of Lao specialty coffee at the embassy booth alongside Douangvayvanh Khammany, a special lecturer and head of the Lao language program at TUFS. Dressed in traditional Lao attire, they interacted with visitors in both Japanese and Lao, and their warm and approachable demeanor was highly praised, contributing to the event's great success.

Additionally, a Laotian graduate student enrolled in the Master's Program of the Graduate School of Global Studies served as the emcee for all events held on stage. They smoothly facilitated the event's proceedings and played a significant role in enhancing its appeal.

This activity served as a wonderful opportunity to deepen understanding of Laotian culture and expand the circle of exchange. Furthermore, such social contribution activities are expected to further develop the international activities of TUFS and serve as a significant opportunity to strengthen friendly relations with Laos.
